KZN ANC says COGTA MEC Buthelezi’s ‘divisive’ behaviour holding the GNU back

Africa-Press – South-Africa. The African National Congress (ANC) in KwaZulu-Natal says while the Government of Provincial Unity is progressing well, there are elements that need to be addressed.

The party leveled allegations against KZN Cooperative Governance MEC Thulasizwe Buthelezi, claiming he caused setbacks in the Government of National Unity (GNU).

The ANC briefed journalists in Durban earlier on Monday, reflecting on the unity government that included the Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP), Democratic Alliance (DA), and the National Freedom Party (NFP).

Party provincial chairperson Siboniso Duma, said in his view, Buthelezi was not honouring the political structure.

“Whilst we appreciate the spirit of working together as displayed by other leaders of the IFP in the Executive and in the Legislature, we believe that Buthelezi thinks he is above the PGU and his political party, the IFP.”

Duma said the ANC would be approaching the IFP regarding this issue.

“He is very divisive in nature, and his mission is to take us backward. This is a matter we shall take up with the IFP leadership.”

EWN reached out to Buthelezi, but his office has yet to respond.
