Africa-Press – South-Africa. JOHANNESBURG – The uMkhonto weSizwe (MK) Party has distanced itself from a media briefing set to be held by its former secretary-general, Floyd Shivambu.
Shivambu was recently demoted to an ordinary member by the party following his trip to Malawi to visit wanted fugitive, Pastor Shepherd Bushiri.
The party announced Shivambu would be redeployed to Parliament, however, this has yet to materialise despite the window for changes to parliamentary lists opening on the first of June.
Shivambu said his briefing on Thursday was to discuss “critical matters currently facing the country”.
MK Party national spokesperson Nhlamulo Ndhela told EWN that the organisation was not involved with the briefing.
“We know nothing. We are aware of a flyer that’s being flighted on social media, and you have just confirmed yourself, this is not an official presser from the party.
“You have attended media briefings from the party, and you know exactly what processes we follow. So, what does that tell you if it’s not linking you for an accreditation process to our website? That in itself is telling, isn’t it?”
