Africa-Press – South-Africa. Western Cape police are hunting for gunmen who shot dead an off-duty police officer and left another cop seriously wounded in Eland Street, Philippi, on Friday night.

Police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Malcolm Pojie said both were constables stationed at Bishop Lavis Police Station.

“Circumstances surrounding the death of the 37-year-old and the critical injuries sustained by the 33-year-old policemen are being probed by the Hawks,” said Pojie.

Community WhatsApp groups said the officers were in a car when the unknown gunmen opened fire on them.
