Africa-Press – South-Africa. The City of Cape Town have advised residents in Burgundy Estate that their water supply will be disrupted from tomorrow (Thursday 19 January) from 21:00 until 04:00 on Friday (20 January) for planned maintenance on water infrastructure to be carried out.
The same planned maintenance will also be conducted in Belami Ridge, Sonstraal Heights and Vredekloof Heights next week which will see the water supply be disrupted from Tuesday (24 January) from 21:00 until 04:00 on Wednesday (25 January).
Residents in the affected areas need to store water in clean sealed containers for domestic use during the period of maintenance, and to keep their taps closed to prevent any water loss or damage when the water supply is restored.
According to the City, “careful consideration has been given to the planning of this work to ensure it is being done at a time that is least disruptive to the water supply.”
The City advise that affected residents a may also experience low water pressure as zero-pressure testing conducted which may cause certain residents having no water coming out of their taps.
“Zero-pressure testing is part of the installation process for pressure management technology. Tests are done to see if any unmapped inflows need to be considered before installing smart pressure-reducing valves.”
The City added that it is impossible to predict which areas or streets will experience disruptions.
“This work forms part of the City’s water demand management strategy. Managing water pressure more effectively reduces the possibility of pipe bursts and water wastage. The City sincerely regrets any inconvenience, but it is imperative that it maintains and upgrades its water supply infrastructure to benefit its consumers.”
The City will also be conducting the same planned maintenance in Goedemoed, The Crest, Rosedale Estate, Sir Lowry’s Pass and Strand throughout next week.
