Africa-Press – South-Africa. The South African Police Service (SAPS) has exonerated corruption-accused Crime Intelligence boss, Dumisani Khumalo, of any wrongdoing.
Khumalo recently underwent an internal process looking into allegations against him.
He and five other senior officers currently face charges of fraud and corruption.
The charges relate to the appointment of 30-year-old Dineo Mokwele to an executive position within Crime Intelligence in April last year, despite her having no policing capabilities, knowledge, or skills.
Khumalo is on Friday appearing in the Pretoria High Court on Friday, seeking the relaxation of his bail conditions to allow him to go back to work.
As part of his release on bail, Khumalo is prohibited from entering any SAPS intelligence premises.
In an affidavit read into the court record by his lawyer, Abre Loubser, Khumalo said an internal investigation into his conduct had been completed.
“After my release on bail and an internal investigation was concluded against me, during which time I was temporarily transferred as a precautionary, the outcome of this investigation exonerated me and my precautionary transfer was terminated.”
