Africa-Press – South-Africa. A G4S security guard was shot and killed, while two other security officials were disarmed, during a cash-in-transit robbery in Gauteng, which saw the robbers flee with an undisclosed amount of money.

The security guard, who was also the driver of the cash van, was shot several times in the upper body by the gunmen at an Engen garage in Randfontein on Monday night.

According to Gauteng police spokesperson, Colonel Athlenda Mathe, the security guards were busy with their day-to-day duties of collecting and dropping off money when they were attacked at the garage.

Mathe said:

“The Mercedes-Benz was used to ram into the cash van, causing it to come to a halt.

“Thereafter random shots were fired,” said Mathe.
