Africa-Press – South-Africa. A teenager was shot dead while a 5-year-old boy was injured in a shooting in Manenberg, Cape Town, on Saturday morning.
According to the Manenberg Community Policing Forum (CPF), unknown suspects pulled up in a vehicle on Seine Road. They fired several random shots down Thames Avenue towards where the boys were standing.
Police spokesperson Sergeant Wesley Twigg said the 17-year-old succumbed to his wounds before he could receive medical treatment. The little boy is in a critical condition after being shot in the forehead.
CPF chairperson Vernon Visagie said shootings were ongoing in the area.
“We saw it coming. We have been engaging with the different stakeholders to help combat what has been taking place in our community,” he said.
He added:
A case of murder and attempted murder has been opened.
No one has been arrested.
