Africa-Press – South-Africa. The criminal case against a 31-year-old woman accused of murdering her boyfriend on Valentine’s Day has been postponed for further investigation.
Beyers appeared in the Pretoria North Magistrate’s Court on Thursday. The State requested the matter be postponed for further investigations, which will be conducted by police.
Beyers will appear in court again on 10 May. At her previous appearance, she was granted bail of R3 000 following her arrest in February.
Argument over cigarette
News24 previously reported that Beyers had stabbed Arthur Dobson, 45, who is also the father of her 7-year-old son, on 14 February.
It is alleged that the stabbing stemmed from a heated argument over a cigarette. National Prosecuting Authority spokesperson Lumka Mahanjana said it is alleged that Dobson assaulted Beyers, who retaliated by stabbing him.

Dobson then locked Beyers inside the house and drove off, presumably to get medical help.
Mahanjana said:
Paramedics rushed to the scene, but Dobson was already dead by when they got to him. While admitting to stabbing Dobson, Beyers said she did not intend to kill him and wanted to clear her name.
During the bail application, the court also heard that Beyers had two previous convictions for theft and perjury, News24 reported previously.
