Africa-Press – South-Africa. Two people are expected to appear in court following their arrest after allegedly robbing a cash box.
They allegedly attacked a security officer who had dropped a canister box at the Diamond Discount Liquor store in Franschhoek.
Western Cape Hawks spokesperson Zinzi Hani said a Fidelity security guard had been attacked by three people while entering the armoured vehicle.
“In the process, the guard dropped the canister box,” she said.
“The suspects then picked the box and ran away. The box was later recovered a short distance from the crime scene.”
Hani added that the Fidelity guards chased after the robbers and rammed their Ford Ka.
They managed to escape and their car was later recovered abandoned.
“Community members spotted two suspects on foot and alerted the security in the area. Police and local security guards then arrested the suspects,” said Hani.
The two are expected to appear in the Paarl Magistrate’s Court on 17 June 2022.
