Two City Law Enforcement officers die after accident on road outside Joostenbergvlakte

Africa-Press – South-Africa. Kraaifontein police are investigating a case of culpable homicide after an accident claimed the lives of two off-duty City law enforcement outside Joostenbergvlakte in the early hours of Wednesday morning.

Simphiwe Ntsham (30) and Sixolile Maram (27) were driving on Boy Briers Road when their vehicle left the road and overturned. Ntsham and Maram were attached to the Law Enforcement Advancement Plan (LEAP) Unit in Kraaifontein.

Titanium Securitas head of paramedics Kobus Kotze told TygerBurger that they received the call at about midnight.

“When the ambulance arrived at the scene the two men were already deceased.

The bodies of the men were found outside the vehicle. The men were declared dead on the scene of the accident,” he said.

According to Kotze, the accident occurred on a gravel road.

“The wreck of the car indicates that it had rolled several times,” he said.

Police oversight and community safety minister for the Western Cape Reagen Allen extended his condolences to the families and colleagues of the officers yesterday. The circumstances surrounding the accident are not clear as yet.

“I want them to know that they are in all our thoughts and prayers during this difficult period. I pray that they will find strength and peace in these moments of sorrow and pain. There must be no speculation about what might have occurred. We should allow the South African police to conclude their investigation. I intend to visit the families to personally extend my heartfelt sympathies,” he said.

Mayco member for safety and security in the City of Cape Town JP Smith said, “I have reached out to both families to speak to them personally to commiserate with them about these tragic deaths. Each staff member in our directorate is part of our safety and security family and their deaths are felt by us all. We will support their families with counselling and any arrangements they need to make.”
