Africa-Press – South-Africa. Democratic Alliance (DA) supporters have arrived in the neighbourhood of Belhar as the party tries to ramp up its support base, aiming to remain in power in the only province it runs.
Thousands have filled the Erica Park Sports Ground in Belhar, donning the DA’s trademark blue.
Premier Alan Winde explained why they chose Belhar to close the campaign: “You have to end it somewhere, and I think what a great place. Let’s do it in Belhar.
“Let’s talk to the citizens of this province about the importance of this vote. We know that this province is highly contested.”
The party said those who come out in support will send a clear message that Western Cape works and will remain under what it called “capable, DA governance”.
