Africa-Press – South-Africa. The body of an unknown woman was discovered in the water at Macassar Beach on Saturday morning.
Western Cape police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Malcolm Pojie said investigators and forensic experts were still on the scene.
Police were alerted at about 07:00 about a body floating in shallow waters.
“The unknown body was handed to Pathology Forensic Services,” Pojie said.
Macassar Community Policing Forum spokesperson Russell Williams told News24 it appeared that the woman was not from the area.
“It does not look like the person is from Macassar, but we still need a full report to confirm this,” he said.
Williams added that an autopsy would be conducted to determine the cause of death.
An inquest docket has been opened for further investigation.
