Africa-Press – South-Sudan. Kenya’s Ambassador to South Sudan, Jeremy Nyamaso Ndola, has appealed to stakeholders to continue extending goodwill toward South Sudan’s peace initiatives, saying peace remains key to the country’s future stability and prosperity.
Speaking on Friday during the commemoration of Kenya’s 62nd Jamhuri Day in Juba, Ambassador Ndola cited an earlier statement by United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres, noting that peace is “the most powerful force for a better future.”
“We call upon all the stakeholders to continue extending goodwill towards the South Sudanese peace initiatives and all other initiatives,” Ndola said.
He called for collective action, saying peace is within reach if stakeholders choose to act together.
“As the UN Secretary-General António Guterres said, peace is the most powerful force for a better future, and it is within our grasp. If we choose, let us act together for a peaceful future,” he added.
The Kenyan envoy said a peaceful environment would allow communities to live together and prosper by embracing cultural diversity, protecting and promoting human rights, and improving the business environment.
“With a peaceful environment, we will live together because we prosper by nurturing and embracing diversity of cultures, protecting and promoting human rights, improving business environment and facilitating foreign investments,” Ndola said.
Ambassador Ndola further praised the resilience of the South Sudanese people, saying they are eager to enjoy the dividends of peace after years of instability.
“There is no doubt that the South Sudanese are a resilient and hard-working people who want to see dividends of peace, stability and prosperity in their country,” he said.
Kenya has played a key role in regional peace efforts in South Sudan and continues to support initiatives aimed at fostering stability and development in the country.
