Africa-Press – South-Sudan. President Salva Kiir Mayardit has directed the immediate resumption of the J1 construction project in Juba, ending an 18-month delay and setting September 2027 as the completion target.
According to a statement, the directive followed a meeting between the President and the project’s Oversight Committee, signaling renewed efforts by the government to modernize administrative infrastructure.
A delegation of senior officials, including Marik Nanga Marik, Chief Administrator in the Ministry of Presidential Affairs, and James Deng Wal, Executive Director in the Office of the President, visited the site and said work has now entered an accelerated phase.
A post published today on the Facebook page of the Office of the President says the project restart reflects the government’s commitment to strengthening institutions and improving service delivery.
Speaking during the visit, Marik Nanga Marik says the project represents national resilience and will provide a modern and secure facility aligned with governance needs. James Deng Wal says the President has directed that construction must continue without interruption until completion.
The project is being implemented by RAM Civil Engineering and Consultants, with initial activities including site clearing and material mobilization already underway. Company representatives say they are committed to meeting the set timeline and maintaining quality standards.
Once completed, the J1 facility is expected to support government operations and contribute to long-term institutional development.
