Africa-Press – South-Sudan. South Sudan President Salva Kiir Mayardit has issued a Republican Decree firing the First Undersecretary in the Ministry of Finance and Planning, John Deng Wal, just six months into his appointment.

The Presidential Decree readout on the state-owned South Sudan Broadcasting Corporation (SSBC) did not cite reasons behind the removal of the senior South Sudan government finance ministry official.

In a separate decree, President Salva Kiir appointed sacked Ujang James Karlo as the Second Undersecretary in the ministry before appointing him as the new First Undersecretary in the Ministry of Finance and Planning.

In yet another Presidential Decree, the South Sudanese head of state appointed Angelo Deng Rehan who was the director of budgeting at the ministry until this evening, as the new second undersecretary in the ministry.

The South Sudanese president cited powers given to him under the country’s transitional constitution and the Revitalized Agreement on Resolution of Conflict in the Republic of South Sudan (R-ARCSS) signed in 2018.
