Kiir sacks two top aides, appoints new administrator

Africa-Press – South-Sudan. South Sudan’s President Salva Kiir has dismissed two senior officials from his office and appointed a new chief administrator, according to a presidential decree announced on Tuesday.

The decree removed Valentino Dhel Malueth as chief administrator at the Ministry of Presidential Affairs and Ambassador David Amour Majur as press secretary in the Office of the President.

Majur was appointed presidential press secretary in mid-February 2025, replacing Lily Martin Adhieu Manyiel. Malueth was appointed chief administrator on November 4, 2025, replacing Sebit Bullen Komonde.

Marik Nanga Marik was named the new chief administrator of the Ministry of Presidential Affairs with immediate effect, the statement said.

Marik is a politician from Lakes State who has previously served in both legislative and executive roles at the state level. He is a former speaker of the defunct Western Lakes State Legislative Assembly and has also served as minister of information in Lakes State.

He previously represented Rumbek North County in the state legislature and has been involved in governance and security issues in the state.

A replacement for the press secretary position is pending and will be announced “in due course”, it added.

The statement, issued by Minister of Presidential Affairs Africano Mande Gedima on behalf of the president, expressed “profound gratitude” to the outgoing officials for their service.

No reasons were given for the changes.

Kiir has led the oil-rich but impoverished nation since it gained independence in 2011.
