Africa-Press – South-Sudan. South Sudan Road Authority’s Executive Director, Kenyatta B. Warille, has ordered the partial closure of the Juba Bridge.
This is to create working space for the installation of electric cable across the bridge, according to Kenyatta.
The partial closure will last till June 12.
“The public is hereby informed that Juba Bridge shall be partially closed. This closure shall be from Saturday 11/6/2022 to Saturday, 12/6/2022,” Kenyatta said in a statement seen by Sudans Post on Wednesday.
Kenyatta urged motorists and other road users to use alternative routes to avoid delays occasioned by the partial closure of the bridge.
“All road users and the general public are required to cooperate with the traffic police during this period,” he said.
The Juba Bridge was constructed in 1972 and it underwent some repairs in 2008 and 2021 respectively.
It stands as the only bridge across the Nile in all of South Sudan, at least until the completion of the Freedom Bridge.
