Africa-Press – South-Sudan. South Sudan army has not yet formed any committee to integrate forces of former SPLA-IO commander Gen. Khor Chuol Giet, according to army spokesman, Maj. Gen. Lul Ruai Koang.
In August this year, Gen. Khor declared his intention to join South Sudan People’s Defense Forces (SSPDF) under President Salva Kiir Mayardit, days after speculations that he was joining former SPLA-IO chief of staff General Simon Gatwech Dual who had defected from Machar a few days earlier.
General Khor was the deputy commander of the Sudan People’s Liberation Army in Opposition and did not state why he decided to leave the main armed opposition group, beside accusing Machar of turning the group into a ‘family company’.
Speaking to Sudans Post in an exclusive interview on Monday, Gen. Lul Ruai said the SSPDF has not formed a committee to integrate the forces of former SPLA-IO commander Khor Chuol.
“We have not yet started the integration because whenever the integration process started normally we send a committee to go and look at the forces but as far as I know, no committee has been formed,” Koang told Sudans Post reporter in Juba. This comes after social media speculations alleged that a team has been sent by Bilpam to go an integrate the former opposition forces into the army.
