Africa-Press – South-Sudan. Hundreds of civilians are fleeing to Ethiopia after Sudanese rebels from the Sudan People’s Liberation Army – North attacked an area south of Kurmuk town in Blue Nile state.

Eyewitnesses told Sudans Post that fighting begun at dawn on Monday when forces believed to be from the SPLA-North attacked the Sudanese army base south of Kurmuk, resulting in the displacement of civilians most of whom have crossed to Ethiopia.

“The fighting began at 4:00AM in southern parts of Kurmuk. The rebels, I think from the SPLM North of Abdelaziz is responsible for the attack,” one resident said on condition of anonymity.

“Now many people have crossed to Ethiopia,” the resident added.
