Africa-Press – Tanzania. THE Tanzanian government has been hailed for improving pension benefit levels for retirees and introducing a new verification system.
THE Parliamentary Committee on the Ministry of Finance revealed the good news today, June 6, 2025 and commended the government for the significant step of reviving pension benefit levels for retirees.
As well, the government has introduced a new verification system set to be officially implemented starting from July 1, this year.
The commendation was made by the Committee’s Vice Chairman and Member of Parliament for Kibiti Constituency, Twaha Mpembenwe, while presenting the Committee’s views on the implementation of the Ministry of Finance’s budget for the 2024/2025 fiscal year and the budget estimates for 2025/2026 in the Parliament session held in Dodoma.
Mpembenwe said the new verification system will help reduce the challenges previously faced by retirees, who were forced to travel long distances to follow up on their pension payments.
The system will enable retirees to access services more easily and promptly.
Additionally, the Parliamentary Committee revealed that by April 2025, the government had received 1.78tri/-, equivalent to 82.2 percent of the planned budget, indicating good implementation of the government’s financial plans.
The Committee emphasized the importance of continuing to strengthen budget implementation to ensure funds are utilized properly for national development and to provide quality services to citizens.
Furthermore, Committee members urged the government to continue establishing robust strategies that will enable effective and transparent achievement of development goals.
The Committee also praised the government’s efforts to ensure sound management of financial resources that supports the country’s economic growth.
