Vodacom Celebrates 25 Years Driving Digital Era

Africa-Press – Tanzania. As it celebrates 25 years of service in Tanzania, Vodacom has reaffirmed its commitment to driving digital growth by launching the construction of communication towers in various regions that previously lacked network coverage.

Speaking at the climax of the anniversary celebrations held in Dar es Salaam, Vodacom Tanzania’s Director of Business, Brigita Shirima, said the newly constructed towers will feature all major technologies — 3G, 4G, and 5G — to ensure all Tanzanians benefit from modern, high-speed internet access.

“We want every Tanzanian to enjoy digital services, whether for communication, business, education, or entertainment. These towers will connect underserved areas to today’s digital world,” said Shirima.

On his part, M-Pesa Tanzania Director, Epimack Mbeteni, noted that in addition to supporting the tower construction, Vodacom—through its M-Pesa service—has significantly boosted financial inclusion in Tanzania, increasing from just 9 percent to 76 percent coverage.

“M-Pesa has been a game-changer for millions of Tanzanians, enabling fast and secure financial transactions. We remain committed to continuing investment in even better services for all Tanzanians,” Mbeteni stated.

Several Vodacom customers also shared their appreciation for the company’s achievements over the past 25 years, highlighting the positive impact of services like M-Pesa in their daily lives—especially in sending, receiving, and saving money. They called on Vodacom to continue introducing innovative solutions and expanding service delivery in both rural and urban areas.
