Africa-Press – Tanzania. ACT Wazalendo parliamentary candidate in Kigoma Urban constituency, Zitto Kabwe, has said that if he comes to power, he will prioritize the implementation of delivering development to the urban peripheral areas where they are currently left behind in terms of development.
He said this while addressing a campaign rally in the constituency held in Businde ward, Kigoma Ujiji municipality, and said that the state of being left behind in terms of development in these areas has brought about a big difference between the citizens of these areas and those in the middle of the municipalities.
The candidate said that one of the reasons for this is the lack of reliable roads connecting these areas with urban areas, so many economic activities have stagnated and many people do not want to go and invest there because of the infrastructure challenge.
He noted that even in social services, the areas are still facing the challenge of a severe shortage of teachers, including Businde Secondary School, with six teachers, where parents are forced to donate 6,000/- to pay volunteer teachers.
Speaking at the meeting, Businde Ward Councillor Candidate, Saidi Makala, said that the people of the area are facing a major challenge of having their lands plundered without compensation because the current councillor was collaborating with the government in the plunder, thus requesting the citizens to elect him to oversee them to ensure that their lands are not plundered for investment purposes.
