Africa-Press – Tanzania. CCM presidential candidate, Samia Suluhu Hassan yesterday reaffirmed her party’s commitment to developing sports, pledging to continue investing in infrastructure and youth programmes if re-elected in the upcoming General Election.
Speaking at a campaign rally in Ruangwa constituency, Lindi region, President Samia described sports as a vital avenue for youth empowerment, job creation and community unity.
Addressing a large crowd, the President noted that CCM views sports as more than just entertainment. She described it as a source of employment and a tool for national cohesion.
“We in CCM believe that sports is a major opportunity for both self-employment and formal jobs. That’s why, if entrusted once again with leadership, my government will continue to invest heavily in sports infrastructure and youth engagement programmes. Sports bring joy, build trust and create unity within communities,” she stressed.
President Samia also commended the people of Ruangwa for acquiring a modern sports facility (Majaliwa Stadium) that she said would play a significant role in nurturing talent and stimulating socioeconomic growth in the region.
“I congratulate the people of Ruangwa for this Majaliwa Stadium. This facility is not just a field of play, but a platform for youth development and opportunity. It is the same kind of space that produced talents like those in Namungo FC and I have no doubt it will unearth many more,” said President Samia.
She also praised Prime Minister Kassim Majaliwa, a native of Ruangwa, for his leadership and contribution towards construction of the stadium.
“I commend Prime Minister Kassim Majaliwa for ensuring Ruangwa now has a quality sports venue. This stadium is a symbol of progress and a sign of what’s possible when leadership prioritises youth and community development,” she said.
With just a month and few days to go until the day for polls, President Samia is seeking to be elected to the highest office of the land under the CCM banner, positioning sports, youth employment and infrastructure development as some of central pillars of her campaign.
