Africa-Press – Tanzania. SAUTI ya Umma (SAU) presidential candidate Mr Majalio Kyara has vowed to transform Tanzania within five years by addressing key development challenges facing the country.
At a campaign rally in Dodoma City recently, Kyara promised to tackle traffic congestion, empower citizens through development projects and undertake a comprehensive overhaul of the public transport system if elected president.
“If elected, our government will certainly deliver on many critical issues. We will resolve development challenges within one term,” Mr Kyara said, drawing enthusiastic applause from supporters.
“We will ensure that all basic problems are addressed, including the persistent traffic jams in Dar es Salaam and other major cities that hamper productivity. Give me the mandate and I will eliminate these unnecessary delays, freeing up citizens’ time for more productive work,” he said.
Mr Kyara promised to implement comprehensive urban planning and infrastructure development strategies to keep pace with rapid urban growth.
He also criticised the government’s decision to manage the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) project independently rather than partnering with the private sector, arguing that this approach has exacerbated public transport challenges.
Regarding development projects, Mr Kyara pledged to put an end to the practice of handing over newly built market building or cubicles to middlemen, whom he accused of exploiting traders with exorbitant rental fees.
“Markets must belong to the wananchi, not brokers. Currently, traders are abandoning modern markets because of high costs and moving to informal areas. Under my leadership, development projects will directly benefit the people not exploiters,” he promised.
