Africa-Press – Tanzania. ALLIANCE for Africa Farmers Party (AAFP) has pledged that, if elected to lead the government in the October 29th polls, it will mandate all public offices to operate 24 hours a day. AAFP presidential candidate, Kunje Ngombale Mwiru made the promise recently while campaigning at the Katoro Township in Geita District.
He explained that to implement 24-hour public service operations, his administration would prioritise creating sufficient job opportunities for youth and other qualified individuals.
He said the move aims not only to enhance public service delivery but also to reduce unemployment across the country.
The presidential candidate criticised the current public office working hours, which usually end between 3:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m., as insufficient for a developing nation like Tanzania that needs a hardworking workforce to drive economic and social progress.
“My government will operate 24 hours a day. I have no concerns about the Police Force, they are already accustomed to working around the clock. If you elect me, we will extend this commitment to all public services, as it will create more employment opportunities,” he said.
He added: “This country needs development. If we continue to stop working at 3 p.m. or p.m., how will we achieve our goals? Work must continue 24 hours so that citizens can secure jobs.”
Moreover, he promised that his party would ensure all schools across the country are equipped with free internet access to support effective teaching and create a conducive learning environment for students.
He emphasised that internet access and communication infrastructure are fundamental needs for any nation aspiring to develop and pledged to improve these services in schools while also guaranteeing adequate housing for teachers.
The AAFP presidential candidate also commended Tanzania’s media for its role in keeping the public informed, pledging that his government would strengthen press freedom and support responsible, productive journalism by allowing journalists to report freely and fairly.
