Africa-Press – Tanzania. THE Central Committee of Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM)’s National Executive Council has urged the government to take effective measures to safeguard the nation’s peace and ensure stability.

According to the statement released by the party’s Secretary for Ideology, Publicity and Training, Mr Kenan Kihongosi, CCM directed the government to ensure peace by taking appropriate measures.

The special meeting was chaired by CCM’s National Chairperson, President Samia Suluhu Hassan, in Dodoma.

The statement explained that the Committee reviewed the country’s political situation before, during and after last week’s general election, before adopting four resolutions.

According to the committee, apart from emphasising peace, it condemned the recent post-election violence that caused deaths and the destruction of both public and private properties.

“The Central Committee of CCM’s National Executive Council condemns acts of violence and breaches of peace committed by some individuals, which have resulted in loss of life and destruction of properties,” the statement read.

The statement further noted that the party has resolved to undertake a comprehensive self-assessment and reorganise itself to more effectively fulfill its responsibility of leading the nation.

The special meeting of the Central Committee was the first to be held since the conclusion of the 2025 general election.

The party also expressed its appreciation to voters who turned out on October 29 this year to exercise their democratic rights to elect leaders of their choice.

Delivering her victory speech at the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) premises in Dodoma last week, the Head of State condemned incidents of violence that occurred during the election period particularly in the cities of Mwanza, Dar es Salaam, Arusha, Mbeya, and parts of Songwe Region, which she said were intended to disrupt the electoral process.

She described such acts as unpatriotic, stressing: “A patriotic person builds the nation, not destroys it. This country has been built through immense effort and sacrifice. There is no alternative to peace; therefore, all necessary measures must be taken to ensure the nation remains peaceful.”

“I believe my fellow contestants and all Tanzanians were equally disturbed by such acts, which do not strengthen the foundations of democracy. We must reject such behaviour and stand united to protect our nation,” she urged.

President Samia further reminded citizens that Tanzania is a unique country in Africa, formed through the union of two independent states, the Republic of Tanganyika and the Republic of Zanzibar, whose people have lived together in unity for over 61 years.
