Africa-Press – Tanzania. THE Arusha Regional Commissioner, Mr Amos Makalla, has said that the state of security and safety at the Namanga Border, which connects Tanzania and Kenya through the Arusha Region is safe.

Mr Makalla made the statement on Thursday in Namanga when he visited the area to assess the state of security and business operations following President Samia Suluhu Hassan’s directive that all social and economic activities across the country should continue smoothly after the General Election.

“I would like to confirm that the Tanzania–Kenya border is safe, and the Namanga One-Stop Border Post remains secure. This station is vital to both our countries and especially to border residents who directly benefit from economic and trade opportunities. Therefore, it is crucial to continue promoting peace, unity, and cooperation along this border because we all benefit from it,” he said.

In his inspection, the RC was accompanied with the Regional Security and Defense Committee,

Moreover, the commissioner commended officials from both sides working at the Namanga One-Stop Border Post for their continued provision of quality services to citizens of the two nations.

“I congratulate leaders and staff at this customs post for strengthening relations and promoting trade in the area,” he stated.

According to the RC, the post is an important center for the exchange of goods between Tanzania and Kenya while emphasizing that any instability along the border would have a significant impact on the economies and social welfare of both nations.

On behalf of Kenyan authorities, the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) Manager at Namanga, Mr. Nicholous Mugambi, pledged continued cooperation in supporting trade facilitation and reinforcing strong bilateral relations.

“We will continue working closely with Tanzanian authorities to sustain the good relations that enable business growth,” Mugambi said. “Peace is the foundation for shared prosperity among our people.”
