Africa-Press – Tanzania. TANZANIA Women defeated Canada by 26 runs in the second match of the Canada Women tour of Tanzania at the University of Dar es Salaam on Wednesday.

Winning the toss, Tanzania elected to bat and set a target of 97 runs after completing their 20 overs for the loss of seven wickets.

The innings got off to a shaky start as opener Fatuma Kibasu was run out in the first over without scoring. Saum Mtae followed in the fourth over, caught behind off Terisha Lavia for nine runs, leaving Tanzania struggling at 23 for 2.

Captain Neema Pius then took charge, guiding the middle order with a composed innings of 46 not out.

She received support from Nasra Nassoro Saidi, who scored 20 runs, and from Agustino Mwamele, helping to steady the innings after the early setbacks.

Jenifer Kimaro also added eight runs before being run out. Other contributions came from Nasra Mohamedi and Kamunya, who added three and two runs respectively, while extras accounted for eight, including four wides. Tanzania finished with 96 for 7, posting a modest but defendable total.

Canada’s chase began slowly, with openers Rabbjyot Rajput and Achini Perera scoring six and one respectively before early wickets fell. Canada struggled to form substantial partnerships, losing their third and fourth wickets for just 28 runs.

Amarpal Kaur, the Canadian captain, tried to build an innings and remained unbeaten on 27, but the lack of support from the middle and lower order prevented the visitors from mounting a serious challenge.

Tanzania’s bowling was disciplined throughout the innings. Jenifer Kimaro led the attack, taking three wickets for 14 runs. Sophia Frank Jerome and Sheila Kizito each claimed two wickets, while Perice Kamunya took one. The bowlers kept the run rate under control and struck regularly, preventing Canada from accelerating in the final overs. The visitors were eventually dismissed for 70 runs, giving Tanzania a 26-run victory.
