Africa-Press – Tanzania. THE Minister for Industry and Trade, Judith Kapinga has toured ALAF limited, the popular firm in building solutions in Tanzania and expressed satisfaction in the quality and standards of production at the factory.

The minister, who was accompanied by other leaders from various departments of the ministry, said ALAF is among exemplary industries as it has shown a true example of an industrialized Tanzania.

“The quality of the products I saw today proves that we (Tanzanians) are good in the industrial sector and this is because the products you manufacture can be sold even abroad for, they meet the required international standards,” she said, adding, the government will continue to protect local industries so that they can produce more and profitably.

She went on to say that ALAF’s decision to invest in the colour coating line, whose production began last year, was the right decision because Tanzanians can now access the products which were previously imported.

“We all understand that in the past we used to import these iron sheets from outside the country but now we get them here at ALAF easily and quickly,” she said, adding, also the presence of this plant has increased employment opportunities for Tanzanians.

Ms Kapinga continued to say that, the government will continue to collaborate with all stakeholders in the industrial sector in the country so as to ensure that production processes are not disrupted in any way, including making sure that it (government) addresses the challenges that may rise in order to attract more investment.

“Our doors are wide open for any type of cooperation you need from the government, may I take this opportunity to encourage you to contact the government whenever you encounter any challenges related to your operations so that the government can work with you to address them quickly”, she stressed.

On his part, the ALAF Limited Chief Executive Officer, Mr Bibhu Nanda, thanked the minister for the tour and promised that ALAF will continue to collaborate closely with the government to ensure win-win situation.

“Our main goal is to continue to be number one in the production of sheets and other construction products; our institution is the oldest sheet company which is this year celebrating 66 years since it was established”, he said.

He appealed to Tanzanians to be proud of locally produced products, including those manufactured by ALAF.

ALAF Limited is a leading roofing materials manufacturing company in Tanzania, which was established in 1960, where for more than 60 years, it has continued to be a key player in the development of the country’s construction sector.

ALAF has fully integrated operations, not only for manufacturing roofing iron sheets, but also for producing equipment used in various roofing activities. ALAF Limited also manufactures various metal materials for various roofing applications.
