Africa-Press – Tanzania. THE Tanzanian government has approved 1bn/- for the emergency construction of the 18-kilometer Kasamwa-Gamashi road, which will strengthen economic activities through the transport and logistics sector between Nyang’hwale District and the Geita Regional Headquarters, the Minister of State, Prime Minister’s Office – TAMISEMI, Prof Riziki Shemdoe unveiled today, January 25, 2026.

Prof Shemdoe said the road is of economic importance to the people of Nyang’hwale and Geita who rely on agricultural and livestock activities, so the production taking place in Nyang’hwale was unable to reach the regional headquarters due to the existing challenge of the poor infrastructure of the Kasamwa-Gamashi road.

“The construction of this road is very important economically, so we should thank the President for approving the funds that enabled the road to be built to develop the economic activities of the people,” emphasized Prof Shemdoe.

In addition, Prof Shemdoe has congratulated the contractor of the project, Madata Investment Ltd, for the successful implementation of the project, which reached 82 percent using its own funds, and indicated that if contractors like Madata Investment are found, there will be no more projects that are stalled.

“I congratulate the contractor for the good work you have done on this project, and I assure you that the money to pay you is there, you bring the application and get paid but I ask you to consider February 27, 2026, when you should hand over this project,” explained Prof Shemdoe.

Reporting on the implementation of the project, Geita District TARURA Manager, Engineer Bahati Subeya said the emergency construction project on the Kasamwa-Gamashi road officially began on August 25, 2025 and is expected to be completed on February 27, 2026.

Engineer Subeya explained that the completion of the project will improve the transport and transportation sector as well as economic activities, including facilitating access to social services including health and education.

In turn, the Nyang’hwale District Commissioner, Grace Kingalame, thanked President Samia Suluhu Hassan for facilitating the construction of the Kasamwa-Gamashi road which will eliminate the communication challenge between her district and the regional headquarters, adding that the people of Nyang’wale and Geita are pleased with the sincere commitment of President to bring them development through the construction of road infrastructure.

The Kasamwa-Gamashi Road project is among nine projects worth 4bn/- being implemented by TARURA Geita region through the CERC (Contingency Emergency Response Component) – DMDP II Project funded by the World Bank, which is based on roads affected by the El Nino rains in 2023.
