AfricaPress-Tanzania: THE play-off stage of this year’s Regional Basketball League (RBA) heads to a big thrill today at Harbours Club Court with two matches on card.
The first on court today will be Pazi who will test Oilers before letting Kurasini Heat face Savio at the same venue later on.
Both matches expected to be tough and action packed as all four laboured to qualify to the top-eight stage.
Prior to today’s encounter, the four teams met last Thursday in their first playoff games of the quarterfinals whereas Oilers defeated Pazi 80-70 at the same venue.
Oilers’ first game lead was steered by Maxwell Ngonga’s stellar performance after he fired home 23 points and seven rebounds.
In the group stage of the RBA league, Pazi finished ahead of Oilers after they secured 26 points to end fourth overall after winning 11 games.
Oilers finished fifth overall with 25 points garnered from 10 wins. Kurasini Heat and Savio had a tough encounter in which Kurasini Heat stamped a 58-51 win.
The game was indeed tight and evenly contested, but this time Savio likely to have more chances. Isaya Aswile was the game hero when pocketed 16 points, 13 rebounds and had two successful blocks.
Earlier before the play-off games, Kurasini also did well to secure third places in the log with 26 points after winning 21 games while their opponents; Savio finished sixth with 25 points from 10-game outings.
A total of eight men’s teams engaged in the play-off stage this season while the women’s category has picked only four best teams.
Apart from the four teams which will play today, there are JKT who sealed to the play-off stage after collecting 30 points after winning all their fifteen matches.
Other Clubs include ABC who hauled 27 points; where three other clubs Ukonga Kings, Vijana City Bulls and Savio collected 25 points.
