AfricaPress-Tanzania: DON BOSCO Lioness have been crowned new women’s Regional Basketball League (RBA) champions after beating JKT Stars 53-50 in the fifth playoff game held at Harbours court in Dar es Salaam.
The winners managed to win 3-2 matches against their opponents. They also won the second and third playoff 72-57 and 71-57, respectively.
Their opponents JKT have only managed to bag two victories out of the five matches they played. They won the first 55-51 on the first playoff and 51-45 on the third playoff game.
Before meeting, both clubs had shown an outstanding performance in the semifinal stages, registering 3-0 against their opponents.
JKT sealed their place to the final by knocking out the former champions Vijana Queens while the reigning champions took down Ukonga Queens.
This year’s finals have not been successful for both JKT (men and women) clubs. They have both lost the finals against their opponents.
Apart from missing the title, JKT (men) also lost to Kurasini Heat by 1-3 defeat in four playoff games they met at Harbours court in Dar es Salaam.
JKT only managed to win the first encounter after their 64-57 victory in the first finals playoff game, but ended up losing the games to Kurasini in the remaining matches.
