RBA: JOGOO SEEK RETURN TO GLORY IN OYSTER BAY TIE

AfricaPress-Tanzania: RBA League’s Division 1 leaders Jogoo are set to extend their winning form when they play Oysterbay in the tense League battle today.

The in-form Jogoo claim they are well-drilled to overcome Oysterbay hurdle in today’s showdown at Kurasini courts as the league approaches its climax.

The league’s organizers Basketball Dar es Salaam (BD) through its Technical and Competition Director Haleluya Kavalambi said in the city yesterday that all is well at the league that started mid last year.

“This is among our toughest leagues since it forces teams to fight so as to book their places in the top class RBA League, hence the competition is very stuff. We have about seven scheduled matches in this weekend’s fixture,” he said.

This means sports fans will see highly entertaining games this weekend as four teams are poised to secure one of the three top slots. The weekend’s fixture, heralded by the match between leaders Jogoo and Oysterbay which is one of four matches to be staged today.

Jogoo who were dropped from Dar es Salaam top flight league RBA, lead the table with 36 points from 18 matches in the field of 11 teams. They are the only team yet to concede a match at a league as they have won all 18 matches and gear up to extend their lead if they beat Oysterbay.

Their opponents have settled at 7th position with 25 points, but have played 17 matches so far. In other today’s fixture, KIU are scheduled to face AFC while Kigamboni will take on External and Mchenga will take test on KR-1. On Sunday, Oysterbay will again return to the court to face Ukonga as AFC are pitted against Srelio and KR-1 are scheduled to play against Patriot.

According to the league table, Mchenga are second with 34 points after playing 18 matches, followed by Ukonga at the third place with 32 points, but they have played 19 matches and KR-1 are fourth with 29 points after playing 18 matches.

At the fifth position are Srelio who have bagged 28 points from 19 matches, External are placed sixth with 27 points from 19 matches.

At the eighth position are Patriot who have hauled 23 points from 18 matches, Kigamboni and KIU also with 23 points to occupy the ninth and tenth positions respectively, while AFC settle at bottom with 19 points from 18 matches.
