AfricaPress-Tanzania: YOUNG Africans leadership is scrutinising applications from several coaches seeking to replace sacked Serbian tactcian Zlatko Krompotic.
Among others, the club is in advance talks with Burundian Cedric Kaze.
The club’s Communication Officer Hassan Bumbili said at the moment Assistant Coach Juma Mwambusi will be the caretaker coach.
Bumbuli said after a short break, the team will assemble in Dar es Salaam today to contine with training ahead of the coming Mainland Premier League duels.
Burundian Kaze has been frequently linked with the hot post as Yanga seek to end Simba’s dominance in the local scene.
Explaining why, they sacked the Serbian Yanga singled out failure to impart a desirable football philosophy as the main reason which led to the sacking of Zlatko Krmpotic on Saturday night in the city.
The club has since admitted that Burundian trainer Cedric Kaze is among the top candidates likely to take over the Head Coach responsibilities.
Krmpotic parted ways with the Jangwani Street based club after 37 days at the helm of the team where he guided them unbeaten in five league matches and two friendly games they played.
According to available records of the Serbian trainer, 37 days becomes the shortest spell he has stayed at one team from the list of four teams he coached previously.
While at South African side Polokwane City, he spent 113 days before he was fired and at Rwandan giants APR, he served for 159 days before going separate ways with the club.
Again, Krmpotic spent 159 days at the helm of Zambian side Zesco United before heading to coach Jwaneng Galaxy from Botswana where he paraded for 189 days only as such, Yanga has so far become the first team to terminate his contract before reaching 100 days.
However, elaborating on this development on Monday, the club’s kit and merchandise suppliers GSM’S Investment Director Hersi Said revealed that his football style could not have brought the tangible fruits demanded at Yanga.
“We were closely assessing his progress since he arrived in the country until Saturday and there are a number of issues, he failed to impress the club’s leadership especially his football philosophy. “We were therefore not impressed with what he was bringing in the team as Head Coach as such, we decided to reach mutual agreement to end the contract and the decision was made regardless of the final results on the day,” he said.
He however pointed out that the other members of the team’s technical bench will stay put at their respective positions only that for now, Mwambusi will act as Head Coach until the new coach is found.
“About who is coming to take charge of the team, people should just wait since the official announcement will be made by the reliable sources of the club but Kaze is among those candidates we are closely reaching for an agreement,” he narrated.
Kaze failed to secure a chance of joining Yanga at the beginning of the season due to what he termed as ‘family reason’ hence his post was covered by Krmpotic.
If Kaze succeeds to land at Jangwani based club, then his first assignment in the unfolding league will be a tough one taking on traditional rivals Simba on September 18th at Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam.
Perhaps it will be the first time for a new coach of these two big clubs to start league campaigns with a traditional derby clash.
