AfricaPress-Tanzania: THE continental class boxing bout between Tanzanian Hassan Mwakinyo and the Argentine Jose Carlos Paz is getting more exciting after the Argentine vowed to beat the Tanzanian envoy.
The continental class bout will be staged at the Next Door Arena Oysterbay in Dar es Salaam on November 13th this year.
The two boxers will be vying for International Boxing Association (IBA) continental title, as well as Mwakinyo defending his World Boxing Federation (WBF) continental title.
Mwakinyo was crowned the WBF title in August this year after defeating a Congolese boxer Tshibangu Kayembe.
Paz who arrived on Thursday together with his father Alberto Ramon Paz as his coach noted that he decided to arrive early and get used to the weather as he is determined to return to Argentine with the title.
“I arrived earlier to get used to the weather, this is one of the winning strategies, I traveled to the basin later to board a plane, two days I’m on my way, I am here to win and not to face a defeat.” said Paz.
His coach also remarked that they are aware that Mwakinyo is a good boxer hence they have learnt more about his tactics and worked on them.
“We have practiced hard towards this fight, we have practiced technical and tactical, all that is for the sake of winning which we believe 100 per cent, we will win,” said Ramon.
They made these remarks after their arrival at Julius Nyerere International Airport (JNIA).
The Argentine boxer has fought 35 bouts; won 23 with 13 of them by knockouts, he drew once and lost 11 while Mwakinyo has fought 19 bouts and won 17 with 11 of them by knockouts and lost twice.
He is placed first in the country in the super welterweight category and 71st place globally.
Meanwhile, the Jackson Group Sports CEO, Kelvin Twissa said preparations were well underway and boxers from Zambia, Zimbabwe and Kenya would arrive next week for the bout.
Twissa said everything is in the final stages and tickets will go on sale through Nilipe and Selcom where the entrance shall be 150,000/- per person for regular seats and 3 million/- for a 10-person table.
The ticket selling exercise started on Thursday.
The fight will be preceded by three more matches where the country’s female boxer, Zulfa Macho will fight with Alice Mbewe from Zambia; Hussein Itaba will fight with a Congolese boxer Alex Kabangu and Fatuma Zarika of Kenya will exchange punches with Patience Mastara of Zimbabwe.
