Minister: Arts, film sectors seek reform investors

Africa-Press – Tanzania. THE government has pledged to make modern reforms in arts and film sectors by attracting potential investors so as to uplift the two sectors for the benefit of artistes and the nation.

This was said by the Minister for Culture, Arts and Sports, Mohamed Mchengerwa when he visited TaSuBa institute in Bagamoyo recently accompanied by Bollywood and Hollywood envoys; Mu Nichan and David Faria from India and America respectively.

He said their visit to the country is to establish how they can cooperate with actors and other key stakeholders in the industry in order to share skills which at the end will lead to the transformation of arts and film sectors.

“As a government, we are ready to push for the growth of the film sector by ensuring that it develops from where it is now to high levels so to attain a global attention,” Mchengerwa said.

Adding, he said his ministry will use the visit of representatives from India and America to further develop the film industry to make Tanzanians proud of it.

“We will continue to encourage key players in film sector like Directors, Actors and Producers including buyers of these products so that together, we can implement President Samia Suluhu Hassan’s vision of letting the film industry bring the required entertainment to all Tanzanians,” he said.

In another development, the ministry’s Deputy Minister Pauline Gekul has urged Tanzanians who get scholarships to study outside to be good ambassadors of the country by promoting Tanzania’s culture.

She made the remarks recently during the commemoration of Indian Council for Culture Relations (ICCR) where she insisted that for them to earn scholarships, it is the best moment to promote the country’s culture.
