Polisi TZ host Mbeya Kwanza in 20th round opener

Africa-Press – Tanzania. THE 20th round of the NBC Premier League kicks off today with Polisi Tanzania hosting the bottom-placed Mbeya Kwanza at Ushirika Stadium in Moshi.

The two sides are separated by a 10-point gap as Polisi Tanzania occupy the 8th position with 24 points after playing 19 matches while Mbeya Kwanza who are placed 16th, parade 14 points from their 19-game outings.

However, both sides are not completely comfortable on the table as they need to win most of their remaining games in order to climb up the ladder.

After holding the defending champions Simba to a barren draw in their recent game, Polisi Tanzania will be gunning to stamp a victory in today’s unpredictable encounter knowing in advance that a win is crucial to them.

From 19 matches they have played, the Moshi-based giants have won five games, drawn 9 and conceded five losses in the process as such; they are set to add the tally of the games they have won.

For Mbeya Kwanza, the ride seems bumpy for them as they need nothing less than victories in their remaining matches to stand a good chance of escaping possible relegation.

They have just won two matches from 19 games, recording eight draws and succumbing to nine losses.

It is not a good performance hence they ought to win most of their remaining games to avoid relegation demon.

In their past league game, they lost 1-0 to Biashara United which was another setback to them to keep their paws in the league next season.

The league games will continue tomorrow with two games on card. At Kaitaba Stadium Kagera Sugar welcome KMC in Kagera while at Jamhuri Stadium in Dodoma, Dodoma Jiji will take on Mtibwa Sugar in a late kickoff (7:00pm).

On Monday, Sokoine Stadium in Mbeya will stage another thrilling 90 minutes battle between Tanzania Prisons and Coastal Union.

The other tight fixture will unfold at Ilulu Stadium in Lindi where Namungo will host Ruvu Shooting.
