Africa-Press – Tanzania. THE Alliance for Change and Transparency (ACT-Wazalendo) has issued a stern warning to party leaders and members aspiring to contest councillor, House of Representatives and parliamentary positions that it will not tolerate corruption or premature campaigning.

Speaking during meetings with party leaders and election observers in Konde Constituency (Micheweni District) and Bopwe (Wete District) in North Pemba, the ACT-Wazalendo National Chairman and Zanzibar’s First Vice-President Mr Othman Masoud Othman stressed the importance of integrity and discipline.

“Our party stands firmly for justice, discipline and adherence to the rule of law,” he said, adding; “Any member found to have secured a position through corrupt practices or early campaigning will be disqualified, regardless of their status.”

He said that individuals who resort to unethical means are unfit for leadership, reaffirming ACTWazalendo’s commitment to principles over personal ambition.

“The party is closely monitoring the conduct of all aspirants and any credible evidence of misconduct—whether from new or current leaders—will lead to immediate disqualification,” he stated.

The ACT-Wazalendo leader added: “Discipline is the foundation of leadership and we must uphold these standards to fulfil our mission of fairness and good governance.”

ACT-Wazalendo is currently conducting its internal candidate selection process for councillor, representative, parliamentary and presidential positions.

Mr Othman urged capable, service-minded individuals to apply—particularly for councillor posts—to help build strong local councils that drive community development.

He noted that this effort aims to benefit all segments of Zanzibari society, including youth, entrepreneurs, business owners, teachers and public servants who have placed their hopes in the party.

Meanwhile, the party’s Deputy Secretary-General for Zanzibar, Mr Omar Ali Shehe, announced that ACT-Wazalendo is finalising its report on the recently concluded voter registration exercise.

The report will highlight challenges encountered and provide guidance for future improvements.

He extended gratitude to all members and leaders involved in the registration process and expressed sympathy to those who experienced difficulties
