AFRICA KABADDI TOURNAMENT: TANZANIA PICKS 32 FOR MISSION

AfricaPress-Tanzania: TANZANIA Kabaddi Sports Association (TKSA) has named strong men’s and women’s squads that will pitch a camp in Dar es Salaam ahead of the Africa Kabaddi Championship 2020.

The players’ training camp will officially start on November 5th this year in Dar es Salaam.

The continental level competition is scheduled to be held at Mlimani City Mall Dar es Salaam from December 11th to 13th this year.

The TKSA chairman Abdallah Nyoni told the  africa-press in Dar es Salaam that 32 players have been selected to form the both men and ladies teams each with 16 players.

Nyoni named men’s team members as Joseph Lusinde (captain), Masudu Tindwa (captain), Imraan Nyoni, Roland Aswile, Best Ibrahim, Joseph Mkinga, Musa Mustafa, Said Ramadhani, Juma Hamza, Abdul Ally, Hassan Ally, Shija Bujibu, Shigela Magobo, Masanja Mtemi, Athumani James and Manase Madusa. Reserves are Hussein Mbembati, Mahamudu Omari, Godfrey Samwel, and Peter John.

According to Nyoni ladies team has included Zuhura Ally (captain), Happiness Gribelt ( vice-captain), Nsara Mkima, Mwanahamis Juma, Agnes Alfan, Zuwena Hassan, Jane Msafiri, Mezea Abdallah, Sauda Msamwili, Marry Maiko, Janet George, Upendo Yunus, Aziza Juma, Zaitun Abdallah, Aneth Mosha and Christina Amani.

Also in the lists are four reserves Ruce Sechonge, Zena Msangila, Nasra Makowa and Rosemary John. He said that both teams were selected by merits through a special national qualifier held in Dar es Salaam and Zanzibar.

“Technical committee has done a wonderful job, we are hosts we have to bring strong teams and we are optimist that they will not let us down because they are good players,” he added.

“All players have competed in the test, and have been selected according to that criteria,” he explained.

Dar es Salaam has been honoured to host the event for the first time in the history under the auspices -of Africa Kabaddi Confederation (AKC).

The championship will be in the national-team style for both men and women’s categories and it will be open to all AKC members.

As hosts country’ has been given the honour to field two teams in each category so as to give a chance for youthful players to test international experience.

Tanzania teams will compete against other teams from Kenya, Cameroon, Egypt, Mauritius, Siera Leone, Uganda and Zimbabwe.

According to Nyoni, they have also received requests from England, Malaysia, Taiwan, Iraq and India whose teams applied to compete as invited guests.
