Africa-Press – Tanzania. TANZANIA has called on African nations to unite and take collective, proactive steps in response to the world’s fast-evolving technological and energy landscapes.

The country insists that Africa must move beyond being a bystander and instead engage, innovate, and lead, ensuring solutions are both homegrown and sustainable.

Speaking on Wednesday at the closing of the Africa Technology Conference in Dar es Salaam, the Commissioner for Electricity and Renewable Energy, Engineer Innocent Luoga, reaffirmed the government’s strong commitment to creating a conducive investment environment in the energy sector.

This, he said, is being achieved through robust legal frameworks, favorable fiscal policies, and supportive contractual arrangements.

“The world is undergoing rapid transformation in both technology and energy. Africa, as an integral part of the global community, cannot afford to stand on the sidelines. We must engage. We must innovate. We must lead,” said Eng Luoga.

He stressed that collaborative action is key, with a focus on embracing global transitions, while ensuring Africa’s solutions reflect local contexts and long-term sustainability.

Eng Luoga was representing the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Energy, Engineer Felchesmi Mramba, at the three-day conference organized by the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) in partnership with the government. The event brought together energy and technology stakeholders from across the continent and beyond.

“Tanzania continues to demonstrate steadfast commitment to energy transition and technological advancement, guided by the responsible and sustainable use of our vast natural resources,” he added.

Eng Luoga noted that the conference served as a vital platform for capacity building, knowledge exchange, experience sharing, and networking.

“The Tanzanian government fully supports initiatives that foster capacity development, international cooperation, and investment,” he said.

“Events like this not only allow our citizens to benefit from global expertise but also present opportunities for Tanzania to showcase its strengths in energy, tourism, technology, and hospitality.” Reflecting on the outcomes of the conference, he stated that the ideas and resolutions shared would act as catalysts for transformative change, both within Africa and globally.

SPE Global President, Engineer Olivier Houzé, also addressed the gathering, reaffirming the society’s commitment to supporting the development of oil and gas sectors across Africa, particularly in Tanzania given its vast resource potential.

“This can only be realized through strong political will and the support of stakeholders and investors,” said Eng.

Houzé. He further emphasized the importance of engaging young professionals in the energy sector. Their involvement, he said, is essential in addressing key challenges, including the integration of artificial intelligence, the global energy transition, climate change, and the need for affordable energy access across African nations.
