Africa-Press – Tanzania. Foreign nations should not be a burden to African countries; instead, they should provide a platform for peace, negotiation, dialogue and national development. Tanzanian President Samia Suluhu’s speech on foreign nations should be viewed from both positive and negative sides.

She may have spoken out of anger, but a keen look at her complaint about foreign nations disseminating false information about the chaos during her country’s election and trying to overpower Tanzania is somewhat true.

Foreign states probably consider themselves Mr Right all times. Inasmuch as they are more developed than African countries in terms of democracy, leadership, infrastructure and all, this should not be a reason to dictate to developing countries.

Chaos indeed erupted during the recent Tanzanian elections, but it should be noted that demonstrations and chaos always erupt during most African countries’ elections, although not to the extent of leading to massive deaths.

European states should not give orders to African countries. We gained independence from them and have constitutions that guide us. They should also stop giving fake and false information that destroys the image and reputation of African countries.

That said, the Tanzanian government too should provide justice to all the citizens killed during the election chaos and come up with ways to prevent similar cases in the future.

Leaders should always be a source of peace and not vice versa. Suluhu would have done well to address the issues raised by her people instead of responding with brute force.
