Africa-Press – Tanzania. AFTER their victories in two latest matches, against Mtibwa and JKT Tanzania less than a fortnight ago, Azam FC are in high spirits to maintain their prowess over Dodoma Jiji.
Ayoub Lyanga scored the goal that ensured the George Lwandamina side went home with the three points, condemning the home side to yet another loss.
Lyanga capitalised on an accurate cross delivered by Obrey Chirwa in the 21st minute to produce the only goal that separated the sides in the keenly contested encounter.
The former Mainland champions who temporarily snatched the second spot with 50 points in the standing before being leapfrogged by Simba, are in a mission to vie for the trophy this season.
The ice cream makers, according to the club, have started training to prepare for their match against Dodoma Jiji at Jamhuri Stadium on Thursday.
“We are now focused on another away win against hard fighting Dodoma Jiji and remain among title contenders,’ said the club. Dodoma Jiji are among tough though new sides in the league and appear to be a hard nut to crack.
With their recent 1-0 win over Tanzania Prisons, Azam should not expect an easy going as Jiji would not like to lose points at home. They are sixth in the league with 37 points from 25 matches.
