Africa-Press – Tanzania. ZANZIBAR THE ruling party CCM’s Vice-Chairman (Mainland), Abdulrahman Kinana has said that minor cabinet reshuffles being done by President Samia Suluhu Hassan have all blessings from the party because they aim to increase efficiency.
According to Kinana, in December last year during the CCM 10th Congress, the Head of State requested for party’s blessings so that she could make changes of top leaders in the executive to increase efficiency.
Speaking yesterday during the swearing in ceremony of the Deputy Prime Minister, Ministers, Deputy Ministers, Permanent Secretaries and Deputy Permanent Secretaries held at Tunguu State Lodge in Zanzibar, Mr Kinana said the reshuffle has full blessings from CCM, adding that it intended to enhance efficiency in the government.
“First of all, you will remember during the closing of CCM’ s 10th National Congress in December last year held in Dodoma, President Samia requested for the consent of CCM members to make changes in government top leaders.
“The party’s members were happy and gave all the blessings to the President who is also CCM National Chairperson to proceed with her plans,” Kinana said.
He lauded Dr Samia Samia for making the reshuffle wisely since it is in line with the 2020-2025 CCM election manifesto and people’s expectations.
“I would like to extol President Samia for using her wisdom and giving herself time to assess the needs of CCM election manifesto, expectations of Tanzanians and identifying areas which needed the changes,” he said.
In a related development, Mr Kinana commended the Ministers, Deputy Ministers, Permanent Secretaries and Deputy Permanent Secretaries as well as Ambassadors who were appointed and sworn in yesterday.
Mr Kinana said it is high time the government officials who are sworn in to evaluate the implementation of the party manifesto to improve the remaining areas of execution.
“Right now, we are halfway in the five years’ term since the party was elected in 2020… In 2025 there will be an election and we have made several pledges to Tanzanians through the election manifesto, now is the time for each of us to evaluate implementation of the manifesto which is the agreement between Tanzanians, CCM and their government,” he emphasised.
In December last year, the ruling CCM party’s Chairperson Samia Suluhu Hassan pledged major changes in her party and hinted on possible imminent reshuffle of top leaders in the executive to increase efficiency.
President Samia was reelected as the chairperson of the ruling party during the 10th National Congress on Wednesday evening to offer her leadership for the next five years.
Speaking when closing the two-day meeting in the country’s capital yesterday, the CCM leader expressed optimism on the new leadership squared from grassroots to national level that it was the best group that would help her to efficiently implement the party’s 2020-2025 manifesto.
She tasked all elected leaders to shun a business-as-usual style, and instead go down and serve the people so as to clear all hurdles from the opposition ahead of the 2024 civic polls as well as the envisaged 2025 General Election.
“Let’s unite together and work for our people, because united we will remain strong and disunity will result in weakness,” she insisted.
The president, however, underscored the need for reshuffle within her government saying: “I am requesting for your blessings to reshuffle my government because I have noted with concern that some people have failed to cope with the speed I want.”
