Africa-Press – Tanzania. STAKEHOLDERS of Tanzanian politics have urged citizens to maintain peace and participate actively in the electoral process, emphasizing that voting is a constitutional right and vital for national development.
Speaking to the press, Ameir Hassan Ameir, the Secretary General of the MAKINI Party, encouraged Tanzanian, particularly youth to turn out in large numbers during the upcoming elections.
“Voting is a fundamental legal right. Therefore, we urge all citizens to come out in large numbers and cast their votes,” said Ameir.
On his part, Barik Ali Omar, the Director of Elections for the United People’s Democratic Party (UPDP), highlighted the importance of peace during the election period.
“National peace is a critical pillar, especially as we approach the elections. It is our collective responsibility to safeguard it,” he noted.
In many democratic countries, including Tanzania, voting is both a right and a civic duty. According to the Tanzanian Constitution, all citizens aged 18 and above have the right to vote in general and local elections
