Africa-Press – Tanzania. PRESIDENT Samia Suluhu Hassan, who also serves as the Chairperson of Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM), has laid the foundation stone for a construction of a state-of-the-art party’s national headquarters in Dodoma, expected to cost 34.13bn/- upon completion.

The five-floor building is scheduled for completion in 2027, coinciding with CCM’s 50th anniversary celebrations.

Speaking during the foundation-laying ceremony, President Samia said the facility will not only house the party’s leadership but also serve as a hub for youth development in leadership and ethics.

“This building will provide opportunities for our youth to learn and grow in leadership and moral values. I call on all party leaders and members to continue being reflective, innovative, and ready to learn in order to strengthen our party. Let us also uphold and demonstrate the integrity of CCM in everything we do,” said President Samia.

She emphasized that the new headquarters will stand as a lasting symbol of the party’s strength, unity, and identity both locally and internationally.

President Samia also urged CCM leaders to use the facility to listen to citizens and relay their grievances to the government for timely solutions.

On his part, CCM Mainland Vice Chairperson Steven Wasira noted the importance of the project, stating that the party’s significant role in maintaining the party’s unity, peace, and development necessitates a permanent, modern address.

“You, Chairperson President Samia, are etching another chapter in the party’s history by securing a permanent home for CCM. This building arrives at the right time, aligned with modern technology. If it had been built earlier, it would already be outdated,” said Wasira.

Zanzibar Vice Chairperson and President of Zanzibar, Dr. Hussein Mwinyi, described the project as a legacy initiative that will leave a mark on the party under the current leadership.

CCM Secretary-General Dr. Emmanuel Nchimbi traced the origins of the plan, saying the idea for a permanent party headquarters began in 1983 with CCM’s founding leaders.

The Chimwaga area in Dodoma was selected, and in 1992 the party’s offices were established there.

Later, the founding leadership decided to convert those facilities into infrastructure for the University of Dodoma (UDOM).

He said on June 26, 2024, the party’s National Executive Committee recommended to the Central Committee the urgent need for a new headquarters.

“In its June 30, 2024 meeting, the Central Committee approved the construction of the building based on the proposed design. I want to assure you, Madam President, that by 2027 this project will be completed as directed,” said Dr. Nchimbi.

He added that the project is being fully funded through internal party revenues, supported by CCM-owned businesses.

“I can confirm that the initial 8bn/- in funding is already in the hands of the Secretary-General. These funds have been raised by CCM companies, namely Jitegemee Holding and Jitegemee Trading, which provided the seed capital,” he said.

It was explained that, the new headquarters will include two access roads and three entrances, one each for the public, staff, and senior leaders. The leaders’ entrance will lead directly to an underground parking and service basement.

The ground floor will feature an outdoor breakout area, an exhibition space, a 500-seat conference hall, a restaurant, a library, and offices for various party departments.

The first floor will have a 150-seat conference room, an additional large conference hall, and offices for the Secretary-General and their deputies.

The third and fourth floors will house offices for the Vice Chairpersons of Mainland and Zanzibar along with their departments, as well as the Chairperson’s office. All offices will include conference rooms and waiting areas.

The building will also feature a rooftop helipad for visiting dignitaries arriving by helicopter.
