Africa-Press – Tanzania. CHIEF of Defence Forces (CDF), Gen Venance Mabeyo, has declared that state of security at the country’s borders is generally good as he commended President Samia Suluhu Hassan’s decision to allow Tanzanian soldiers to join other armies in fighting terror group in Northern Mozambique.

“Participation of the Tanzanian soldiers has proved to the world that Tanzania is an accountable member of the international community,” Gen Mabeyo pointed out.

He added: “Through that bold and wise decision you have recognised and developed our country’s history of participation in liberation struggle for Southern African countries,” Gen Mabeyo hailed President Samia, who doubles as Commander- in-Chief.

Tanzania was a chair of the frontline states during the liberation struggles for southern region. “By recognising history, you make history.

Through your decision you have recognised history of our country in liberation struggles and you have made a new history because through that decision, we have implemented our duty as member of the Southern Africa Development Community (SADC),” Gen Mabeyo added.

In Mozambique fight against terror group, Tanzanian army has joined other armies from Botswana, Angola and Lesotho to support regional efforts to destroy the terror group and restoring peace and calmness in the country.

He said Tanzanian army group is currently positioned in southern part with aim of controlling terror group which attacks northern part of Mozambique.

Apart from Mozambique, President Samia has endorsed participation of the country’s soldiers in peace keeping mission in DR Congo, Central Africa Republic and Lebanon, where they implement well their duty of peacekeeping mission under the United Nations.

Gen Mabeyo was speaking on day in Dar es Salaam at an annual meeting of army commanders. The meeting aimed at giving opportunities to commanders to discuss over state of security and challenges.

Gen Mabeyo also expressed appreciation to the Head of State for her love to the army since she took oath of the office.

“You (President) have shown clearly that you love your army…within short time of being in power you have done a lot of things,” he said. To mention a few, the president has endorsed commissioning of soldiers who have met qualifications.

President Samia has also continued trusting the army by appointing several army officers to hold positions in the government, such as ambassadors, regional commissioners and heads of several institutions.

President Samia has endorsed 7bn/- for the Tanzania People’s Defence Forces (TPDF) to buy uniforms for solders.

“Generally, all things have brought comfort to soldiers and their families. The President and citizens are with us, we say thank you the President and Commander in Chief.”
