Africa-Press – Tanzania. Deputy Minister for Labour, Employment and Industrial Relations, Rahma Riyadh Kisuo, has conducted two key working visits to inspect the implementation of strategic projects being undertaken by the Public Service Social Security Fund (PSSSF) in Arusha Region, including the Mount Kilimanjaro International Convention Centre (MK-ICC) and the Olorien Housing Estate.
During the visits, the Deputy Minister was accompanied by the Director General of PSSSF, Fortunatus Magambo, Arusha Urban District Commissioner Mkude, and a team of PSSSF technical experts.
Speaking during the inspections, Kisuo said the visits form part of the implementation of the vision of the President of the United Republic of Tanzania, Dr Samia Suluhu Hassan, which prioritises youth employment creation, strengthening the tourism sector and positioning Tanzania as a hub for diplomacy and international conferences.
She said the MK-ICC project is expected to be completed within 18 months and will create approximately 3,000 jobs for young people once completed and operational.
Kisuo noted that the project is strategic in nature, with a strong focus on environmental conservation, economic growth and transformative impact on business and tourism in Arusha Region.
According to the Deputy Minister, the MK-ICC will have the capacity to host up to 5,000 delegates at a time for national and international conferences, a development expected to further enhance Arusha’s status as a centre for tourism, diplomacy and business in Africa.
On the other hand, Kisuo said the Olorien Housing Estate project stands as a successful example of PSSSF’s strategic investment in the housing sector, significantly contributing to economic growth, job creation and improved social welfare for citizens.
She emphasised that the Government will continue to closely monitor all PSSSF projects to ensure they deliver the intended benefits to fund members, the public and the nation at large.
