Africa-Press – Tanzania. AS Dodoma Region ventures into the second phase of updating the Permanent Voter Register (PVR) tomorrow, authorities in the region have announced the establishment of 413 voter registration centers in preparation for the crucial exercise.
The PVR update, is scheduled to run for seven days from May 16 to 22, 2025, according to Dodoma Regional Commissioner (RC), Rosemary Senyamule, and top priority will be given to youth registering for the first time and persons with disabilities.
Speaking at a press briefing here, Ms Senyamule stressed the importance of the exercise as part of the broader electoral process.
“This update is a crucial step in ensuring all eligible citizens verify their information and are able to exercise their constitutional right to vote in the upcoming General Elections later this year,” said the RC.
She added that registration centers will operate daily from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. during the seven-day period beginning this Friday.
While the majority of centres will be located at ward executive offices, additional locations will be set up in larger wards to ease access, with residents to be notified by their local leaders.
The distribution of centres by district is as follows: Dodoma Urban (105 centres) Mpwapwa-67, Chemba-58, Chamwino-50, Kongwa-41, Kondoa Rural-44, Bahi-32 and Kondoa Town-16.
The update process will involve registering new voters aged 18 and above, verifying and correcting existing voter information and raising objections against ineligible voters listed in the register.
Dodoma Region is composed of seven districts and 11 electoral constituencies, following the creation of the new Mtumba constituency.
The region comprises 209 wards in total.
