Africa-Press – Tanzania. PRESIDENT Samia Suluhu Hassan has today, February 9, 2026, sworn in 19 leaders whom she appointed on February 6, this year.
The appointees include regional commissioners, permanent secretaries, regional administrative secretaries, deputy permanent secretaries, the deputy executive secretary of the National Planning Commission, ambassadors, and a board chairperson.
After the sworn-in occasion, President Samia urged the newly sworn-in leaders to uphold and live by their oaths in the course of their daily duties, emphasizing that the pledges they take must be reflected in their performance and conduct.
President Samia said the leaders were entrusted with their positions based on their competence, experience, and integrity, and therefore must fully discharge the responsibilities assigned to them.
She added that any leader who forgets the oath taken will be given an opportunity to retake it to ensure it is properly upheld.
“You have been trusted because of your ability, experience, and integrity. I urge you to live by the oath you have taken here today. If anyone forgets their oath, the Chief Secretary will allow them to retake it,” she directed.
President Samia also explained that the changes made to some leadership positions were aimed at strengthening the implementation of government activities in line with the pace of public expectations and needs.
“These changes are part of efforts to enhance the speed of implementation of government duties, to meet the expectations and needs of the people,” she said.
