Africa-Press – Tanzania. NATIONAL Sports Council (NSC) has announced December 30 this year as the general elections date for Tanzania Basketball Federation (TBF).
The basketball federation’s body will conduct the elections later next month in Tanzanian capital, Dodoma.
The NSC Acting Head of Relations, Najaha Bakari said in Dar es Salaam yesterday that preparation for the elections was officially started on Thursday.
“NSC is pleased to inform sports stakeholders that the TBF General Election will be conducted on December 30th this year, and its preparation has already started and progresses well.” said Bakari.
She said the election forms for those wishing to contest for different positions have been being issued since November 25, and the deadline for forms’ submission is December 24th at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam.
Bakari added the screening of the candidates vying for various posts will be held on December 29th.
On June 26th, NSC insisted all candidates are required to come with actual professional certificates.
She named the positions to be contested are TBF presidency and its vice, secretary general, assistant secretary general and treasurer.
Others are eight commission posts which are planning and development commissioner, technical and competitions organising commissioner, women’s commissioner, players with disabilities and special needs commissioner, referee commissioner, sport medicine commissioner, coach commissioner, and children and school sports development commissioner.
“The application forms should be returned together with the fee payment receipt and other important documents of the applicant CV,” she said.
